James Preschool/Early Elementary Bible Study (Physical)
The James: Learning to Live God’s Way Preschool & Early Elementary Bible Study from Training Them Wisely helps young children begin learning how to study God’s Word and live out what they learn.
Designed for children approximately ages 3–7, this interactive 5-week Bible study walks through the book of James one chapter at a time using simple truths, discussion, prayer, and age-appropriate activities.
The study includes two developmental levels, allowing preschool and early elementary children to learn the same biblical truths together while working at a level that fits their abilities.
Preschool lessons use short or simplified Scripture selections, simple questions, prayer, coloring, and hands-on activities.
Early Elementary lessons go a little deeper through Scripture, comprehension questions, application, drawing, and prayer. In the newest edition, students are encouraged to open their own Bible and read the assigned Scripture passage.
As children work through James, they will explore biblical truths about:
Listening to and obeying God’s Word
Asking God for wisdom
Showing love through our actions
Treating others with kindness
Using our words wisely
Humility and following God’s way
Patience and prayer
Living out genuine faith
Throughout the study, children are reminded that obedience does not earn God’s love or salvation. Instead, we respond in faith and obedience to the God who loves, saves, and helps us.

A weekly memory verse

This study may be used independently or alongside the corresponding James studies for older students and adults, allowing families and groups to study the same book of the Bible at different age levels.
Please note: We are updating the covers of our Bible studies. Copies with the previous cover design are perfect bound, while studies with the new cover design are spiral bound.
A small number of our current spiral-bound copies are from an earlier printing and include the Scripture verses written out on the Early Elementary lesson pages. In the newest printing, the Scripture reference is provided and Early Elementary students are encouraged to read the passage from their own Bible. The lessons, activities, and biblical truths taught are the same in both versions.
