Trusting in God Even When Times are Hard (Psalm 3:5)

Have you ever been tired? Have you had times that are so difficult you struggle to even sleep?

David did, and yet let's read what he wrote. I love his faith in God.

Psalm 3:5 "I lay down and slept;

I awoke, for the LORD sustains me."

This psalm was written as David’s son and many in Israel came against him. His son wanted to overthrow him, kill him, and commit treason. I can’t imagine being in a worse place with a child, and yet he lay down and slept. He had cried out to the Lord. He trusted Him and the Lord granted him sleep. David knew who the Lord was. He had seen His promises fulfilled. He had watched Him work. He had faith in Him. He praised God for his being a shield about him, his glory, and the One who lifts his head.

Do you trust God to be your shield? Is He your glory or is it your family, position, job, or people’s opinions? Are you able to trust God even when things are hard?

If you are feeling anxious, I encourage you to thank God, praise Him, and cry out to Him. He hears, He answers, He is powerful. He can do abundantly more than you ask or think. When you know who He is you can cry out, pray, and rest secure in who He is and His care for you.

Is there a situation right now you are trusting God in?
