I must admit, I was nervous about this study. My son has never read through an entire book of the Bible, and I was worried he wouldn't be able to understand it. He is not the best reader, so we played the Bible as he read along so that the more difficult words were easy to read. There are some definitions that Rene explains in the study for kids as well. He only needed help on a couple of questions and is so excited to have studied a book of the Bible. He loved the pictures and colors.
Who doesn't want their child to live for Christ, and this study really highlights that in Philippians. Kids read and study every verse of Philippians and cross-references are used. There is an area to write out a daily prayer and there are summaries of the chapter at the end of each week that use colorful graphics so kids want to read it. My daughters have loved using this study. I was worried it wold be too hard for my 3rd grader but it wasn't at all. It is broken down into easy chunks.
I have been wanting to get my son his own Bible study. My friend told me about these and I was hesitant to start off with a whole book of the Bible, but he has loved it and had no problem completing it. It covers just a few verses each day and the questions are easy enough for him to do on his own. He is so excited to have studied a whole book of the Bible and feels like he can keep doing this. We are doing Colossians next.
I found this after listening to the Training Them Wisely podcast for a while - great podcast, BTW - So glad I found it. My son and daughters have both loved it. I bought this one for my 8, 10 and 12 year old. I never find something they all like, but this one they did. They are two weeks in and are excited they have studied half a book of the Bible. I am buying the Colossians and Ephesians studies as well for them. Thanks so much for a much needed resource!
