Easter is the best day of the year!! Easter trail mix is a great way to get kids of all ages talking about Jesus. I love teaching my kids about what Jesus did for them when he died on the cross and rose again. One thing I started doing a few years ago was an Easter snack for them. This is not the best picture, but real life. I was busy and we used paper plates! It was still just as fun.
It's easy to do this with kids, and I love that my littles through teens want to participate. I don't mix these items up, but I still call it an Easter trail mix, but perhaps it should be snack.
You need: cocoa powder
stick pretzels or carrot sticks
craisins or raisins
round cookie or apple cut in a round shape
marshmallows
green gumdrop or green grape
goldfish
a treat such as chocolate candy
Cocoa powder:
The first thing they taste is cocoa powder which looks dirty and tastes bitter and I tell them it represents sin. We read Romans 3:23 while they taste it.
Stick pretzels:
Then we read Romans 6:23. We eat the pretzels which I let them form into a cross and we read Romans 5:8 while they eat the pretzels.
Craisins/Raisins:
We read Matthew 26:28, eat the craisins, and talk about the blood of Jesus.
Cookie or apple slice:
The next thing they eat is the cookie which represents the stone that was rolled away and we read 1 Corinthians 15:4.
Marshmallow:
We eat the marshmallow and talk about how Jesus is the only one who can wash away our sins and read Ephesians 2:8-9.
Green gumdrop or grape:
We eat the green gumdrop and talk about how to grow in our faith.
Goldfish:
Then I give them a big pile of fish. We talk about Matthew 28:19-20 and Matthew 4:19. I tell them there are many people who need to know Jesus, so this is the biggest pile on their plate.
Treat:
The last thing is a treat of some sort. This year was chocolate candies and we talked about how good God is. The kids look forward to this each year, and I do as well!
I hope that your family enjoys this!
